Mobilising Healthy Communities
In this seminar, Ian shared some insights from the work of Bromley by Bow Health Partnership in East London including social prescribing, methods of co-production and work on integrating across a bio-medical approach and a community approach. He talked about a process of organisational change that they have embarked on which seeks to re-situate them as enablers of wellbeing rather than providers of health products.
At the heart of their programme is a new clinical model - a new way of managing the relationship between patients and professionals, a new way to do consultations, a new way to manage the workload, a new way to support patients to manage their own health.
Ian shared some thinking about this work, what they have learnt so far, what they are prototyping and what their next steps are. He was keen to hear insights about this range of issues from participants and looked forward to a fruitful exchange.
About the speaker
Ian Jackson, Director, Bromley by Bow Health Partnership, London
Ian is the Director of Bromley by Bow Health Partnership, a group of practices based in Tower Hamlets, London. His previous experience has been in a variety of roles - a Methodist Minister, a manager of community and voluntary sector organisations and as a local government officer working in the fields of regeneration, policy and strategy, equalities and diversity and, latterly, as Director of a Local Strategic Partnership. Bromley by Bow Health Partnership is currently undertaking a fundamental review of the way it works. The “Well” programme is a radical, population health version of new models of care.
