Small grant scheme successful applicants announced

Back in March, we launched a small grant scheme aimed at schools, non-profit organisations and community groups in and around Glasgow working with children or young people. The aim of this grant was to support the production of creative outputs to communicate the views of children and young people on the impacts of climate change on health and wellbeing.

Despite the ongoing lockdown measures relating to COVID-19, including the closure of schools on 20th March, we decided to proceed with the project as a way to support those working with children and young people to engage them in positive and creative activities during these challenging times. 

We were impressed with the many innovative applications received which covered a range of ideas to work virtually with children and young people. We are pleased to announce that eight organisations were successful as follows:

• Eco Drama
• Govan Help
• Maryhill Parish Church
• Miltonbank Primary School
• Rumpus Room Ltd
• South Seeds
• Village Storytelling Centre 

The projects include, but are not limited to, virtual interviews with elected members and peers, virtual workshops and films, a digital magazine and the collection of air quality data on bikes. 

We recognise that this is a period of uncertainty and disruption where we are all finding our way forward the best way we can and have extended a certain flexibility in developing the projects.

We look forward to working with each organisation over the months ahead and supporting them in delivering a creative process. This will be informed by principles of co-production to ensure a strong community voice and positive experience for the children and young people involved.
