Briefing paper 55: Citizenship in the early years
This briefing paper summarises and discusses the findings from a review of the literature exploring the meaning of citizenship in early childhood and which sought out evidence about the ways in which early learning and childcare settings can support young children to develop the skills, dispositions, practices and understandings associated with citizenship.
The review aimed to explore how citizenship is understood and might be fostered in early learning and childcare settings and the first years of primary school.
